Oposoft All to MPEG Converter is aimed to help you convert a very wide range of formats into MPEG, one of the most used video formats nowadays. The program has a nice interface specially designed for converting batches of files. Since it is very similar to the interfaces of other media converters, you will probably find no difficulty in using this software from the start.
New conversion tasks can be created by adding either individual files or complete folders. Although an extensive array of input formats is supported, the software cannot be used to rip DVD contents. Just after adding a file, you can pick an audio track or subtitles, in case they are available. Unfortunately, external subtitle files are not allowed.
Before actually converting the clips to another format, you can perform some simple editing tasks. First, you can preview a file´s contents and take snapshots of your favorite scenes. Besides, you can extract a part of a video by marking the start and end times. In a similar way, you can choose the frame region you want to convert by dragging handlers or setting specific parameters. If you need to combine several files, you can do so by just activating the Merge checkbox. Other authoring actions include flipping and rotating the image as well as adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation.
Even though the program’s name suggests it can convert to MPEG, in fact, it supports other video formats, such as AVI, VOB, WMV and ASF, as well as some audio formats. After selecting a target format, you can additionally pick a conversion profile. You will probably do this with no difficulty whatsoever, as these profiles are properly identified by the names of the supporting devices. In spite of the fact that there are multiple profiles to choose from, if none satisfies your specific needs, you can always modify one of them. However, the program will not allow you to create new profiles, which is a shame when you need to save a set of specific parameters to be re-used later.
In general, Oposoft All to MPEG is an excellent video tool, which, in addition to converting, can be used for basic video editing. Unfortunately, it does not allow other basic authoring actions as embedding external subtitles and adding picture effects. Another limitation is derived from its limited range of output formats, possibly because it appears to be a briefed version of a more complete converter by the same developer. Therefore, you had better try this application and see if it has all the needed features, because perhaps you could get what you are looking for with just a few extra bucks.
